How We Work With Small Business Owners
Working together starts with a short conversation about your business, your books, and any IRS or state notices you've received. From there we reconcile each month, explain what the statements mean, plan ahead for taxes, and prepare your returns.
How We Work
What is it like to work with Esti month to month?
You hear from us every month, not once a year. Each month we close the books, reconcile bank, credit card, sales and payroll activity, then walk through the statements with you so you know what the business earned, spent, owes, and has in cash. Questions get answered in ordinary words, without accounting jargon.
Those monthly numbers feed the tax side. We use what the books show during the year to plan ahead for your S-corp, partnership or individual return, so year-end is a calculation rather than a surprise.
If an IRS or state notice arrives, bring it to us. As an Enrolled Agent, Esti has federal representation rights and can review the notice with you and speak to the agency on your behalf.
Honest Expectations
Are We the Right Fit for You?
Some clients get more from this setup than others. Here's who tends not to be a good match, and how the work actually runs.
-
You only want a tax return filed once a year.
We work with clients every month, closing the books and reviewing the numbers, so planning happens during the year.
-
You are looking for the cheapest possible option.
Monthly accounting takes real time, around 5 to 10 hours a month. An introductory rate is open to a limited number of new monthly clients.
-
You want to hand over your books and never discuss them.
Explaining the statements is part of the work. Each month we cover what the business earned, spent, owes, and has in cash.
-
You want a promised outcome before anyone reads your notice.
Esti is an Enrolled Agent with federal representation rights. The first step is reviewing the notice together and explaining your options in plain words.
How We Work
How We Work Together, Month by Month
Every engagement starts with a conversation about your business, then settles into a monthly rhythm: reconcile the accounts, close the month, and talk through what the numbers mean well before tax time arrives.
What Happens When You First Reach Out?
Start with a call to 1(917)623-4217 or an email to esti@eenaccountingandtaxresolutionllc.com, and we set a time for a free consultation. All meetings happen on Zoom, wherever you are in the country, with appointments on weekday evenings from 6 PM and any time on Saturday or Sunday. Come as you are: bank statements, a shoebox of receipts, last year's return, or an IRS letter you have not opened yet. Nothing needs to be organized in advance.
The consultation covers what your business does, how you get paid, who handles payroll and sales tax now, and whether any returns are unfiled. Esti asks questions in ordinary words and answers the same way. If your books are behind or messy, say so. That is a normal starting point, not a problem. By the end of the conversation you will know what needs doing, in what order, and what monthly accounting would cover for your business.
You get a clear scope and price before any work begins, including the introductory rate currently available to a limited number of small-business clients signing up for monthly accounting. If it fits, we book your start date. If a once-a-year return is all you need, that works too.
What Happens After the First Appointment?
-
1
Bringing Your Books Current
The first month is catch-up. Esti reconciles bank accounts, credit cards, sales records and payroll so the starting numbers are real. If prior months or years were never closed, we work through them in order, and you will know how far back we are going and why.
Unfiled returns and old notices get mapped out at this stage as well. You receive a plan with a sequence: what gets filed first, what information is still missing, and what happens next.

2
The Monthly Close and the Conversation After It
Each month, Esti closes the books and reviews the financial statements with you on Zoom, typically five to ten hours of work depending on volume. You see what the business earned, what it spent, what it owes, and how much cash is actually available.
Then we talk it through. The P&L gets explained line by line in plain language, and those numbers guide planning for payroll tax, sales tax and your year-end bill. Budgeting and forecasting sit outside monthly accounting, so ask if you want to discuss them separately.

Tax Returns and IRS or State Notices
Returns come from the same numbers. Esti prepares S-corporation, partnership and individual returns using books that have been closed all year, which keeps filing season short and largely free of last-minute document requests.
If a notice arrives from the IRS or a state, forward it instead of setting it aside. Esti reviews it with you, explains what it says and what the deadline is, and as an Enrolled Agent can represent you where EA authority applies. Call 1(917)623-4217 or book an appointment to get started.
